We all have our days. We all have our moments. When things are just dragging us down and nothing goes our way. In these times, I turn to God. I turn to him in my time of doubt, time of sadness, or time of distress. The first thing I start with is prayer. I pray all the time and it is something that gives me inner peace after doing so. The second thing is scripture. There is something about opening up God’s word and reading reassuring scripture.
So after “Pinteresting” one day I came across this pin…
I loved the whole idea of this and wanted to make a craft for my sister out of it!
So I thought about making her a contact book. For when she needs some advice or comforting words of scripture, the little book would be her go-to bible verse book.
Here is what I used:
-colored card stock paper
How I made it:
It’s pretty self-explanatory by looking at the pictures…but I basically took a piece of paper, wrote on the verse that I wanted and then put a heart in two corners. I did this for about 20 or more verses from the list above.
After I was done with that I hole punched the papers in the upper, left-hand corner. I then braided some string together, strung it through the hole in the paper and tied a bow.
It’s as simple as that! And honestly it can make such a difference in someone’s day. My sister loved the book and I already have a request for another.
I hope that you are able to make this sometime…even if it is for yourself.
For Christmas my bestie and I wanted to get matching tops. It took us a while to go through websites and stores to find something that we both liked, that was in our budget, and would be super cute! We finally came across the JCLUForever website and liked their Hebrews 6:19 crew-neck. And it’s definitely safe to say that we love the purchase.
This piece of clothing is one of thee most comfiest things that I own. The inside is heavenly with it’s soft material, and the larger fitting makes you feel like you are bummin it, when you actually look cute…win, win right?! We thought so! Most importantly is that we love the meaning behind the design. Hebrews 6:19 says that “hope anchors the soul.” This is just a constant reminder to keep the hope consistent. So if you are looking for a great buy, check out the JCLUForever website!
Lettuce, cherry tomato, shredded cheese, egg, crouton, dressing of choice. This my friends is your typical, last-minute sort of salad that gets thrown on the table if you need another healthy side-dish. Well not anymore! Of course, this is a recipe I have found on Pinterest but it is a Pioneer Woman steal.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Caprese Salad.
It was super easy, extremely elegant, and a family pleaser. My family loved the sweet, yet tangy, balsamic taste with the fresh basil and tomato on top of a delicious piece of mozzarella.
The recipe is as follows:
2 cups Balsamic Vinegar
3 whole Ripe Tomatoes, Sliced Thick
12 ounces, weight Mozzarella Cheese, Sliced Thick
Fresh Basil Leaves
Olive Oil, For Drizzling
Kosher Salt And Freshly Ground Black Pepper
In a small saucepan, bring balsamic vinegar to a boil over medium-low heat. Cook for 10 to 20 minutes, or until balsamic has reduced to a thicker glaze. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl or cruet. Allow to cool.
When you’re ready to serve, arrange tomato and mozzarella slices on a platter. Arrange basil leaves between the slices.
Drizzle olive oil over the top of the salad, getting a little bit on each slice. Do the same with the balsamic reduction, making designs if you want. Store extra balsamic reduction in fridge for a later use.
End with a sprinkling of kosher salt and black pepper. Serve as a lunch, with crusty bread. Or serve alongside a beef main course for dinner.
This is definitely worth trying if you are bored with your typical lettuce leaf salad!

In the bible we can see how Matthew 5:13 talks about being salt of the world….so what exactly does this mean?! Well when we use salt, we want it to enhance the flavor of our food. Just
like salt creates a more flavorful meal, we as Christians need to bring more flavor to the world. How do we do that you say? Easy. By showing the love of God and to be more like Jesus. God put us on the Earth to create a mixture of different flavors. So let’s be the salt of the world and be enhancers for God.
- I’ve finally gotten my mug back!!! And as I see many different things that I think could have turned out better, I love the overall look! This design is actually based off of one I saw on Pinterest…..go figure!
It was so much fun spending time with my mom and sister being able to paint in the snowy weather. Can’t wait to go back!
In the quiet, little town that I come from we have a creative pottery shop. It has a range of things to paint and about a week or so ago my mom, sister, and I went in and all decided to paint coffee cups/mugs.
We talked about it and wanted to all have at least one similarity on our mugs…the final decision was to have a heart somewhere on the mug to represent the love that surrounds us when we were painting.
Here it is in the process of being painted
We haven’t gotten them back yet, but I cannot wait to see how they all turned out!!
What a quiet morning. People still sleeping, nature just awakening. This peace overwhelms my soul with serenity.
So since I am a Pinterest fanatic, I have seen a lot of pins about one of the fairly new hairstyles called ombre. Now that the new year is here I decided that I wanted to do something different with my style. I knew I didn’t want to cut my hair off, I then decided that maybe coloring it would be kind of fun and give me a whole new look. Then I went on Pinterest and found a few pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like….
Yesterday I went to my stylist and she did a fabulous job and completely exceeded my expectations!
Here are the before and after pictures:
And here is the day after, which I really do love! I suggest that if you are thinking about changing something for the new year, that you would think about something like ombre!
So a family tradition that we have every Christmas/New Years is to make a batch of what we call Goof Balls. Now, many people will know these as buckeyes but since the tradition goes so far back in our family we have called it something a little different. With the rich, chocolate outside and the crunchy, peanut butter inside, this sweet treat is hard to beat.
The recipe calls for:
-2 cups crushed graham cracker
-2 cups peanut butter (May need more depending on consistency)
-3 cups powdered sugar
Mix those ingredient together and then roll it into little balls. Should make about 35 or more. Stick it onto cooking sheets and put in the fridge for about 30-60 mins. Or until hard.
The chocolate calls for
-one 12 oz package of semi-sweet chocolate chips
-1/2 bar of paraffin wax (I used the Gulf Wax brand)
Then use a double boiler and melt the two together.
I used a plastic fork and broke the two middle tines off to dip the peanut butter ball into the chocolate.
Then just dip them in chocolate and set on cooling rack with some wax paper underneath for a quick cleaning.
Let cool and enjoy!
Mmmmm. I have always heard about how good the Grand Traverse Pie Company is; not only is the pie phenomenal, but they have tasteful café food. They are also fairly inexpensive. I will definitely have to go there again!
